Research Projects
WavEC actively drives advancements in diverse fields of the Blue Economy, contributing to a robust national value chain through dedicated participation in cutting-edge R&D projects since its inception in 2003.
“eMISsion-free HV and MV transmisSION swtichgears for AC and DC”. Development of SF6-free components for switchgear.
To enable GW-scale rollout and commercialization of OFPV systems, both stand-alone & integrated in offshore wind farms, to demonstrate and verify its technical, financial and environmental viability.
PRR ATE – Recovery and Resilience Plan, Alliance for Energy Transition
Aims to overcome technical and economic challenges to establish a sustainable, large-scale offshore Floating PhotoVoltaics (FPV) system in Europe, facilitating the integration of FPV with offshore wind farms to meet climate targets and minimize environmental impact.
Superconducting cable development for various purposes, driven by the need for compact solutions with reduced dimensions and limited visual impact.
Demonstration of a 4.8 MW floating offshore wind system with two key technological innovations. The first is a disruptive and ecological TLP platform, with an innovative anchoring system. The second is an innovative aluminum dynamic cable design. The demonstrator makes use of a cost-optimized O&M strategy that increases accessibility and turbine availability.
The FLOAWER Innovative Training Network will provide 13 Early Stage Researchers with interdisciplinary training.
In the SEASNAKE project, a new MV electric cable solution will be developed.
Atlantic Sustainability Through Remote and In-situ Integrated Solutions
Support of the development and testing of marine renewable technologies in 7 European test zones.
The GRRIP will incorporate RRI ("Responsible, Research and Innovation") sustainable practices into 5 marine research organizations.
Development of a new class wave energy converter based on hydrodynamic lift forces.
